What Is Included With A Pool Opening Service:

Empire Pools delivers Long Island’s most thorough pool opening service — more than just removing a cover. Our proven 5-step process gets your pool running clean, leak-free, and perfectly balanced from day one. Experienced technicians handle every opening, photo-verified for quality, and customized so you can start your swim season without delays or surprises.

✅ Remove & Store Winter Cover

Water-bag cover? We drain, remove bags, and fan-fold the cover. Loop-Loc cover? We lower all anchors flush, then fan-fold. Cover is bagged and stored where the customer prefers.

✅ Reinstall Equipment & Filter Assembly

We gather all gear from winter storage and start with the filter system. Full reassembly: unions Teflon-taped, all O-rings inspected (and lubricated) before insertion, lids seated, gauges and plugs installed.

✅ Prime, Start Up & Leak Check

We prime pumps and start the system, then check every union, gasket, and drain plug for leaks. We verify proper pressure/flow and correct any air or drips before moving on.

✅ Returns, Skimmers & Accessories

We reinstall return jets and skimmer baskets, then reinstall ladders, handrails, auto-vacs, and other accessories. Return jets are set for proper direction based on your pool layout.

✅ Startup Chemistry & Final Walk-Through

We add summerization (start-up) chemicals and DE per filter size based on readings and the pool's size. Final walk-through: equipment running smoothly, jets adjusted to break the surface for ideal circulation, area tidied, and service confirmed.

✅ Important Service Notes

Pool cleaning or Power Vac service is not included in the standard opening fee. If your pool opens with the water level too high, lowering the water level is also not included. These services can be added upon request for an additional charge.

Where We Service on Long Island

We proudly service the majority of Nassau and Suffolk County with fast response times and full-service capability. To keep routes tight (and prices fair), we focus on areas where we can deliver reliable, on-time visits all season long.

  • Nassau County: We service most towns across Nassau, including the South Shore as far west as Valley Stream and Malverne. We do not service the far-north Gold Coast towns such as Great Neck and Locust Valley.
  • Suffolk County: Strong coverage in west/central Suffolk. We do not service the East End—no service east of Calverton or east of Bellport (including Hamptons & North Fork).
  • Fast scheduling where we operate most: Dense routes mean quicker ETAs and better pricing in our primary Nassau & Suffolk zones.
  • Not sure if you’re in range? Text your address, town, and nearest cross street. We’ll confirm coverage and the earliest route day in minutes.

Pool Summerization Service

Pool Summerization Service — Quick FAQs

De-winterizing your pool, restarting equipment, and beginning chemical balancing so your system is safely brought back online for the season. Summerization services start at $285 plus tax.

What is included in your pool summerization service?

We remove winter plugs, reassemble equipment, prime the system, and bring the filtration and circulation online. We also start balancing the water so it can transition from winter mode to swim-ready. Standard summerization starts at $285 plus tax.

How is summerization different from a full pool opening?

Summerization focuses on safely starting the system and de-winterizing the pool, while a full opening may include heavy debris removal and more extensive cleaning. It’s ideal when the cover is already off or the pool is relatively clean. Services start at $285 plus tax.

When should I schedule my pool summerization service?

Most homeowners schedule in early to mid-spring so the pool is ready before the first warm stretch hits. Booking early also helps avoid the peak-season rush. Summerization appointments start at $285 plus tax.

Do you add chemicals as part of the summerization visit?

Yes, we begin the start-up chemical process so the water is on track to be clear and safe. If the pool is heavily out of balance or green, additional treatments may be billed separately. The base summerization visit starts at $285 plus tax.

Will my pool be completely swim-ready after summerization?

Often the pool will be close, but final clarity and perfect balance can take some run time on the filter and follow-up chemical adjustments. Green or very dirty pools may need extra clean-up services. The initial summerization visit starts at $285 plus tax.

Do you inspect equipment while summerizing the pool?

Yes, as we bring the system online we visually inspect the pump, filter, heater, and exposed plumbing for obvious problems. If we see any issues, we’ll recommend a repair or separate service call. The summerization visit and basic inspection start at $285 plus tax.
