Pool Pressure Test on Long Island

Empire Pools performs professional pool pressure testing across Suffolk and Nassau to pinpoint plumbing leaks in skimmer, return, main drain, and spa lines. We isolate each line, bring it to a safe test pressure, and monitor for loss so you know exactly where the problem is before you commit to repairs.

What to Expect

Diagnostic First, Before Anyone Starts Digging

We start with a quick history of your leak—how fast you’re losing water, where you see air or bubbles, and any past repairs. Our team then plugs individual lines and connects a calibrated pressure rig to test one section at a time. We confirm the system holds pressure or document the exact PSI drop and time for each run.

Where needed, we combine pressure testing with dye checks at fittings, equipment-pad inspection, and listening tools to narrow down the leak zone. If a line fails, we mark the suspected path and discuss your options for repair or bypass—so you’re making decisions with clear, written findings instead of guesswork.

What’s Included

  • Pre-inspection and leak history review (water loss rate, visible bubbles, prior work).
  • System check at the equipment pad to identify all active suction and return lines.
  • Plugging of selected lines (skimmers, returns, main drain, spa) for isolated testing.
  • Pressure rig connection and safe PSI test on each line or zone.
  • Timed monitoring and documentation of any pressure loss per line.
  • Targeted confirmation checks (valves, unions, fittings, and equipment-pad plumbing).
  • Marking of suspected leak zones and explanation in plain language.
  • Written summary of results with recommendations for repair, reroute, or temporary workarounds.
  • Note: Pressure testing covers diagnostics only — any excavation or pipe replacement is quoted separately.

Pool Pressure Test — FAQs

When should I book a pressure test?
If you’re losing more than normal evaporation, see air in the pump basket, or have one skimmer/return that never seems right, it’s time to test. Many homeowners book as soon as they notice steady water loss for more than a week.
What does a pool pressure test actually do?
We plug selected lines, connect a pressure rig, and bring each line to a safe test pressure. If the line holds, it’s likely sound. If the pressure drops, we know that run has a leak and can narrow down where to look next.
Will you have to dig or break concrete the same day?
No. The pressure test visit is diagnostic-only. If we find a leaking line, we’ll explain repair options and provide pricing for any excavation or rerouting before work is scheduled.
Do I need to be home?
You don’t have to be home as long as we have yard and equipment access. If you’re not home, we’ll text updates and send a summary of our findings once the test is complete.
How should I prep for the visit?
Make sure the equipment pad is clear, gates are unlocked, and the water level is at normal operating height. If you have drawings, old invoices, or photos from past work, those can help us understand how the lines are run.
