What Is Included With A Pool Opening Service:

Empire Pools delivers Long Island’s most thorough pool opening service — more than just removing a cover. Our proven 5-step process gets your pool running clean, leak-free, and perfectly balanced from day one. Experienced technicians handle every opening, photo-verified for quality, and customized so you can start your swim season without delays or surprises.

✅ Remove & Store Winter Cover

Water-bag cover? We drain, remove bags, and fan-fold the cover. Loop-Loc cover? We lower all anchors flush, then fan-fold. Cover is bagged and stored where the customer prefers.

✅ Reinstall Equipment & Filter Assembly

We gather all gear from winter storage and start with the filter system. Full reassembly: unions Teflon-taped, all O-rings inspected (and lubricated) before insertion, lids seated, gauges and plugs installed.

✅ Prime, Start Up & Leak Check

We prime pumps and start the system, then check every union, gasket, and drain plug for leaks. We verify proper pressure/flow and correct any air or drips before moving on.

✅ Returns, Skimmers & Accessories

We reinstall return jets and skimmer baskets, then reinstall ladders, handrails, auto-vacs, and other accessories. Return jets are set for proper direction based on your pool layout.

✅ Startup Chemistry & Final Walk-Through

We add summerization (start-up) chemicals and DE per filter size based on readings and the pool's size. Final walk-through: equipment running smoothly, jets adjusted to break the surface for ideal circulation, area tidied, and service confirmed.

✅ Important Service Notes

Pool cleaning or Power Vac service is not included in the standard opening fee. If your pool opens with the water level too high, lowering the water level is also not included. These services can be added upon request for an additional charge.

Where We Service on Long Island

We proudly service the majority of Nassau and Suffolk County with fast response times and full-service capability. To keep routes tight (and prices fair), we focus on areas where we can deliver reliable, on-time visits all season long.

  • Nassau County: We service most towns across Nassau, including the South Shore as far west as Valley Stream and Malverne. We do not service the far-north Gold Coast towns such as Great Neck and Locust Valley.
  • Suffolk County: Strong coverage in west/central Suffolk. We do not service the East End—no service east of Calverton or east of Bellport (including Hamptons & North Fork).
  • Fast scheduling where we operate most: Dense routes mean quicker ETAs and better pricing in our primary Nassau & Suffolk zones.
  • Not sure if you’re in range? Text your address, town, and nearest cross street. We’ll confirm coverage and the earliest route day in minutes.

Pool Summarization (Opening) — Answers to the Most Common Questions

What’s included, when to schedule, chemicals, equipment priming, heaters, filters, pricing, timing, and how to get started.

What exactly is pool summarization?

Summarization is fully reopening your pool for the season: cover removal, debris cleanup, system inspection, reconnecting and priming equipment, balancing water chemistry, and safety checks so the pool is safe and ready to swim.

What’s included in your pool summarization service?

Remove/clean & fold cover, pump off standing water, clear leaves/debris around the pool edge, reinstall ladders/rails as needed, and reconnect unions, plugs, gauges, and drain caps.

Prime and start the system (pump/filter/heater/salt cell as applicable), check for leaks/air, set initial chemistry (shock/adjustments), and verify circulation/pressure for stable operation.

When should I schedule my pool to be opened on Long Island?

Most homeowners open between late April and late May. Earlier is better if you want to prevent algae growth and beat the rush—book 1–2 weeks ahead in peak season.

Do I need to be an existing customer to book?

No—new and returning customers are welcome. Text a few photos for the quickest quote/confirmation.

Do I need to be home during the service?

Nope. If the gate is unlocked and power/water are available, we can open without you present. You’ll receive booking confirmations, reminders, same-day arrival texts, and a completion note (often with photos).

Do you remove water and debris from the cover before taking it off?

Yes. We pump off standing water, clear debris so it doesn’t enter the pool, then safely remove and fold the cover for storage.

Will you reconnect and prime my pool equipment?

Yes—reinstall drain plugs, baskets, pressure gauges, unions, and startup valves; prime the pump and bleed air.

We verify flow/pressure and check for leaks so the system runs reliably from day one.

Are chemicals included?

Startup shock and basic balancing are included or available as add-ons depending on your plan. Specialty treatments (clarifiers, stain/metal control) can be added if needed.

Is vacuuming included with the opening?

Light netting is included. Full vacuuming and heavy cleanups are best done after circulation runs 24–48 hours; ask about our Power Vac for fast crystal-clear results.

Can you start my heater and test the system?

Yes—once flow and chemistry are stable, we can start and test heaters and salt systems and confirm operation.

What if I used another company to close my pool?

No problem. We’ll inspect the setup, correct anything off, and document settings for an easier fall closing.

Can you clean my filter during the opening?

We check pressure and backwash sand/DE as indicated.

Deep cleans (DE grid tear-down or cartridge soaks) can be scheduled as an add-on for best clarity.

How much does it cost?

Pricing depends on pool size, cover type, and condition. The fastest way to quote is to text a few photos (pool + equipment pad) and we’ll reply with a firm number.

How long does the service take?

Typically 60–120 minutes on site, depending on debris, cover type, and equipment configuration.

Why choose Empire Pools for your pool opening?

25+ years local, certified techs, documented settings, photo updates, and a checklist that prevents early-season headaches.

Licensed & insured, 100+ five-star reviews, and fast scheduling across Nassau & Suffolk.

How do I get started?

Send a couple of photos and your preferred date. We’ll confirm your window and get you on the schedule.
