Replacing an aging above-ground liner in ? Empire Pools installs beaded, J-hook, and overlap liners the right way — with prep that’s built for local conditions.
In you’re dealing with bay breezes and open-lot wind exposure, strong sun exposure that can soften and stretch vinyl, and spring/fall temperature swings that make wrinkles more likely if the liner isn’t seated correctly.
We drain and remove the old liner, inspect the wall and coping track, treat surface rust, and re-shape the base/cove so the floor is smooth before the new liner goes in.
Then we hang and center the liner, vacuum-set it to pull out trapped air and reduce wrinkles, and we take our time aligning the pattern and waterline before the pool fills.
installs often involve access through tight side yards and mature landscaping — whether you’re near
Montauk Highway (NY-27A), Great River Road, Heckscher State Parkway, Sunrise Highway (NY-27), Hawkins Avenue, or around
Heckscher State Park and the Connetquot River State Park Preserve.
We plan the setup to keep your yard clean, protect pavers and patios, and keep hoses/pumps organized so the job stays efficient and safe.
If your pool is on more open, wind-exposed lots near parkland or waterways, we time the vacuum-set and the start of the fill to help the liner lock in tight and straight.
Expect fast scheduling, clear communication, and a clean jobsite when we leave — with photos of key steps so you know exactly what was done.

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
A/G Liner Replacement FAQs
Straight answers for Great River homeowners scheduling an above-ground liner replacement.
How do I know if my above-ground liner needs replacement?
If the vinyl feels stiff/brittle, has repeated leaks, seam separation, or it’s shrinking and pulling out of the track, it’s usually time to replace. If it’s one clean puncture and the liner is still flexible, a patch may hold.
What measurements do you need for a Great River liner quote?
Pool shape (round/oval), size, wall height (48"/52"/54"), and liner type (beaded/J-hook/overlap). Photos of the coping track plus the skimmer/return area help us confirm fit and hardware.
Do you handle rust or wall issues you find during the job?
We treat typical surface rust and clean the track as part of prep. If we find major wall panel deterioration or structural issues, we’ll show you and quote repair options before moving forward.
How do you keep the liner from wrinkling while it fills?
Wrinkles come from a rough base or filling before the liner is seated. We re-shape the base/cove, center the liner, then vacuum-set it to lock it in place before the water rises.
How long does an above-ground liner replacement take?
Most installs take about 3–6 hours depending on base condition, liner type, and fill method (hose vs. water delivery). After we review photos and measurements, we’ll give a realistic time window.
