LINER PATCH •
Pool Liner Patching in
Empire Pools provides professional vinyl pool liner patching in for
tears, punctures, seam separations, and slow leaks—including underwater patching when the damage sits below the waterline.
Our process is built for patches that bond flat and stay put: we confirm the leak zone, evaluate liner age and flexibility,
remove biofilm/sunscreen/oils at the repair point, and prep the surface so adhesive can actually bite. We then apply a professional-grade vinyl patch,
press out trapped water/air, and edge-roll the perimeter so the patch doesn’t lift during brushing, vacuuming, or normal swimmer traffic.
If the leak is near fittings, we also check for faceplate/gasket movement and hardware issues that can mimic a liner leak.
You’ll get care notes (chemistry + brushing guidance) that protect the patch and the vinyl over time.
In , we commonly run routes near Sunrise Highway,
Merrick Road, Ocean Avenue, and Atlantic Avenue, with frequent service stops around
East Rockaway Village Hall, Bay Park, Mill River, and the nearby corridors leading toward
Rockville Centre.
We’re also frequently moving between nearby areas like Lynbrook,
Oceanside, Hewlett, and Island Park.
If you’re close to the main corridors and residential clusters around town, we can usually schedule quickly and patch cleanly without turning it into a “big project.”

Liner Patching Tuned to
In backyards, normal debris cycles and seasonal temperature swings can turn small scuffs into pinholes—especially near steps,
corners, returns, and the shallow “hang” where swimmers and vac heads make repeated contact. We patch with prep and placement designed to hold under
typical brushing, vacuuming, and daily circulation.
homeowners count on us to patch neatly, explain what caused the damage, and prevent “repeat leaks” caused by nearby hardware movement.
What’s Included with Liner Patch

“We were losing an inch every day. They isolated the area, found a tiny pinhole near the deep floor, and patched it underwater. The water level held steady immediately.” — J. Marino,

“Clean work and super straight communication. The patch is flat, edges are sealed, and they gave us a simple ‘do/don’t’ list for brushing the first couple days.” — S. Keane,

“They checked the return gasket first (didn’t guess), then patched the liner once they confirmed it wasn’t the hardware. No more topping off.” — D. Feldman,

“The prep was the difference—cleaned the area thoroughly, pressed out bubbles, and rolled the perimeter. We vacuum weekly and it’s still perfect.” — K. O’Rourke,

“Honest expectations. They told us what was a durable fix now vs. what could become a bigger issue as the vinyl ages. The patch solved the leak without draining.” — A. Patel,
Liner Patch — FAQs
Can you patch a liner underwater in , or does the pool have to be drained?
In most cases, we can patch underwater without draining or lowering the pool. Pinholes, small punctures, many short tears,
and a lot of seam “nicks” can be repaired below the waterline when the surface is cleaned and prepped correctly. If the vinyl is too brittle,
the location is unsafe to prep, or the damage is beyond a patch, we’ll tell you straight.
How long does a liner patch usually last?
A properly prepped patch can last for years, but longevity depends on liner age, vinyl flexibility, water chemistry, and where the patch sits
(high-traffic corners vs. a calm wall section). After the repair, we give simple care notes that protect the bond during the first few days and
help extend patch life.
What if the leak is actually coming from a return, skimmer, stairs, or the pool light?
Fittings can leak in ways that look like a liner problem. We check gasket/faceplate areas and obvious hardware issues first.
If the fitting is the real source, patching the vinyl won’t solve it—so we’ll recommend the correct repair so you don’t pay twice.
Will the patch be obvious, and can you match the liner pattern?
Most patches are visible underwater, but we aim for a neat, low-profile finish. When possible, we use toned or pattern-leaning vinyl and size/shape
the patch to look clean. The priority is always a durable seal that stops the leak—then we make it as discreet as we reasonably can.
When is patching a bad idea and liner replacement makes more sense?
If the liner is shrinking hard, feels stiff/brittle, has multiple seam failures, or tears keep spreading, patching becomes a “whack-a-mole” cycle.
In that case, we can still patch as a temporary seasonal save, but we’ll be upfront if replacement is the smarter long-term move.
