Replacing an aging above-ground liner in ? Empire Pools installs beaded, J-hook, and overlap liners the right way — with prep that’s built for local conditions.
In you’re typically dealing with coastal wind exposure and seasonal temperature swings that can make wrinkles more likely if the liner isn’t seated correctly.
We drain and remove the old liner, inspect the wall and coping track, treat surface rust, and re-shape the base/cove so the floor is smooth before the new liner goes in.
Then we hang and center the liner, vacuum-set it to pull out trapped air and reduce wrinkles, and we take our time aligning the pattern and waterline before the pool fills.
installs often involve access through tight side yards, fences, and landscaping — whether you’re near

, , and .
We plan the setup to keep your yard clean, protect pavers and patios, and keep hoses/pumps organized so the job stays efficient and safe.
If your pool sits on a slightly uneven base or you’ve had recurring wrinkles, we’ll spend extra time re-shaping the cove and vacuum-set timing so the liner locks in tight and straight before the fill rises.
Expect fast scheduling, clear communication, and a clean jobsite when we leave — with photos of key steps so you know exactly what was done.

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
A/G Liner Replacement FAQs
Straight answers for homeowners scheduling an above-ground liner replacement.
How do I know if I need a full liner replacement or just a patch?
If the liner is brittle, has multiple leaks, is pulling out of the track, or the seam is failing, patches usually turn into repeat problems. A replacement is typically the smarter long-term fix when the vinyl is at end-of-life.
Do wrinkles go away after the pool fills?
Not reliably. Wrinkles are best corrected before the water weight pins the vinyl. We use a vacuum-set, careful centering, and controlled fill timing to minimize wrinkles and lock in a clean finish.
What liner types do you install?
Beaded liners (snap into a coping track) — clean look and easy future replacement.
J-hook / Uni-bead liners — hook over the wall, great for many existing pools.
Overlap liners — overlap the wall and clamp under top rails; common on older setups.
If you’re unsure, we can identify it from photos of your coping/top rail.
Can you install a new liner if there’s rust on the wall?
Yes — if the wall is structurally sound. We treat surface rust and smooth sharp spots. If we find compromised wall panels, we’ll explain repair options before moving forward.
What should I do to prep before install day?
Make sure we have clear access to the pool (unlock gates, move furniture, keep pets inside), confirm a working hose spigot nearby, and send photos of the pool size and coping/top rail so we can confirm the liner type and fittings.
