Replacing an aging above-ground liner in ? Empire Pools installs beaded, J-hook, and overlap liners the right way — with prep that’s built for local conditions.
In you’re typically dealing with coastal wind exposure and seasonal temperature swings that can make wrinkles more likely if the liner isn’t seated correctly.
We drain and remove the old liner, inspect the wall and coping track, treat surface rust, and re-shape the base/cove so the floor is smooth before the new liner goes in.
Then we hang and center the liner, vacuum-set it to pull out trapped air and reduce wrinkles, and we take our time aligning the pattern and waterline before the pool fills.
installs often involve access through tight side yards, fences, and landscaping — whether you’re near
Montauk Highway (NY-27A), Patchogue–Yaphank Road, William Floyd Parkway, Sunrise Highway (NY-27), or close to
Southaven County Park, Manorville Hills County Park, and Longwood Estate.
We plan the setup to keep your yard clean, protect pavers and patios, and keep hoses/pumps organized so the job stays efficient and safe.
If your pool sits on a slightly uneven base or you’ve had recurring wrinkles, we’ll spend extra time re-shaping the cove and vacuum-set timing so the liner locks in tight and straight before the fill rises.
Expect fast scheduling, clear communication, and a clean jobsite when we leave — with photos of key steps so you know exactly what was done.

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
A/G Liner Replacement FAQs
Straight answers for homeowners scheduling an above-ground liner replacement.
When is a liner “past saving” and needs replacement?
If the vinyl is brittle, you have multiple recurring leaks, the bead/j-hook keeps slipping out, or there are long cracks at the floor/wall transition, repairs usually won’t hold. Replacement prevents bigger failures mid-season.
Do you fix the base and cove, or just swap the liner?
We don’t just “swap” it. We re-shape the sand cove, smooth the floor, remove debris, and correct soft spots as needed — that’s how you prevent wrinkles and protect the new liner from early wear.
What liner style do I need: beaded, J-hook, or overlap?
It depends on your top-rail/coping system. A quick photo of the track under the top cap usually tells us instantly. If you’re unsure, send photos — we’ll identify it and make sure the fit is correct before install day.
How do you keep the pattern straight and the waterline level?
We center the liner, align the seam/pattern, and use a vacuum-set so it “locks” in place before the fill rises. We also verify the base is smooth so the liner isn’t pulled off-center as weight increases.
How long does the replacement take, and what affects the timeline?
Most installs take about 3–6 hours depending on wall condition, rust, base corrections, and the liner type. Refill time is separate and depends on hose flow or water delivery.
