ABOVE-GROUND POOL CLOSING • Long Island, NY

Professional Above-Ground Pool Closing

Empire Pools closes above-ground pools across Suffolk and Nassau with proper hose/line blow-outs, skimmer protection, equipment drainage, winter chemical balance, and secure cover installs. We label clamps and unions, photograph key steps, and text a summary so your spring opening is quick and drama-free.

What to Expect

Built for Long Island Conditions

We start by testing and balancing water for winter (pH/alk/ sanitizer and algaecide) based on your pool volume. Suction and return hoses are disconnected and blown out; returns are plugged and skimmers get Gizzmo or winter plates to prevent freeze damage without over-draining. Pumps and filters (sand/cartridge/DE) are drained and opened; drain plugs are removed and stored. We set an air pillow, install your winter cover with cable and winch (or safety cover if equipped), and add a leaf net on request. Before leaving, we stage ladders/rails neatly, label unions/clamps for spring, and provide simple winter care tips for wind checks and water on the cover.

Above-Ground Pool Closing — FAQs

When should I book?
Most Long Island homeowners book from late September through October. Aim for 1–2 weeks ahead of your target date.
Do you install the air pillow and cover?
Yes. We place and secure the air pillow, install the winter cover with cable & winch, and can add a leaf net on request.
Will you lower the water level?
We typically do not lower water for above-grounds. If a special situation requires it, we’ll quote on site.
Do I need to be home?
No. Provide yard/equipment access and card on file. We’ll text updates as needed.
Any prep tips?
Stage your winter cover, cable/winch, and air pillow; unlock gates; clear the pad; remove the solar cover; and skim heavy debris so the cover sits clean and tight.
